Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre

The 1 Day Fossil Dig Adventure Tour begins at the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre with a guided V.I.P. tour of the museum.  The tour features “Bruce” a 43ft mosasaur along with many other marine creatures of the Western Interior Seaway.  Participants are then transported to our dig site where they will have the opportunity of exploring for ancient fossils as they excavate an 80 million year old sea floor.  In 2009, 100% of Fossil Dig Tours found “new” fossils.

A delicious supper will be provided by The Timbers at Minnewasta.  1 night of accommodation will be provided by the Super 8 Hotel in Morden.  The Super 8 has a pool, a free continental breakfast, free high speed internet and allows pets.

This two day tour is broken apart into four distinct ½ day components.

1. The ½ Day Fossil Dig Adventure Tour begins at the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre with a guided V.I.P. tour of the museum.  The tour features “Bruce” a 43ft mosasaur along with many other marine creatures of the Western Interior Seaway.  Participants are then transported to our dig site where they will have the opportunity of exploring for ancient fossils as they excavate an 80 million year old sea floor.  In 2009, 100% of Fossil Dig Tours found “new” fossils.

2. Enjoy a guided tour of a preserved Mennonite Street Village at the Neubergthal National Historic Site.  Neubergthal is one of the best-preserved single street Mennonite villages in North America.  The homes consist of a house and barn connected together.  Traditional snack food will be provided.

3. Uncover the hidden treasures of a designated historic building during a Guided Tour of the Pembina Hills Arts Centre (formerly the Morden Post Office).  The tour will feature the history of the building including information about the post office, customs office, the clock tower and the significance of this building during Morden’s early years.

4. During a visit to the Pembina Threshermen’s Museum you will receive a Guided Tour as you uncover the pioneer heritage that created the thriving agricultural communities in the Pembina Valley region.  The museum includes heritage buildings, vintage farm equipment and a broad assortment of pioneer artifacts.

2. The Minnewasta Golf & Country Club is located on the edge of the beautiful Manitoba escarpment in Morden.  The natural hilly terrain creates and beautiful challenge.  This includes 18 holes of golf and a motorized cart rental.

2. Spend ½ day at Hy-Wire Zip Line Adventures and enjoy a breath-taking outdoor thrill ride.  Enjoy your view of the beautiful Pembina Valley as your zip line across ravines that can be 150ft above the ground.

3.  End your day with a scenic twilight flight of the beautiful Pembina Valley with Mountain City Aviation.  Travel from Morden to the Windmill Farm in St. Leon.
