NOW HIRING – Summer Staff 2014!
–The Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre (CFDC) is home to the largest collection of marine reptile fossils in Canada including the largest mosasaur Bruce. The fossils date back to the Late Cretaceous Period, ~80 million years ago. We're looking for students with lots of enthusiasm, who have an interest in fossils and rocks and enjoy working with the public, to assist us in the upcoming field season. All positions will require a criminal record check and child abuse registry check prior. Applicants must be under 30 years of age, and a Canadian citizen. The following positions available for 2013 are:
Youth Program Co–ordinator
All of the positions will be offered between May and August with wages starting at $11.00/hour at 35 hours a week.
SUMMER STAFF JOB DESCRIPTION
Responsible for conducting museum tours and public fossil dig tours, assisting with museum exhibits, fossil collection and public outreach.
Qualifications: background or classes taken in tourism, hospitality, paleontology, geology, zoology, or archaeology, First Aid and CPR, valid driver`s license, currently a full time post-secondary student returning as a full time student in the fall and good public relations.
Youth Program Co-ordinator
Responsible for organizing and implementing daily activity programs for youth ages 3-10. Promote youth programs and assist with public outreach.
Qualifications: background or within the faculty of Education, First Aid and CPR, valid driver's license experience with youth programs, currently a full time post-secondary student returning as a full time post-secondary student in the fall.
Responsible for assisting with providing guided museum and dig site tour programs, prepare materials and supplies for indoor programs, assist with implementing special events, maintain exhibits and gallery space, assist in promotion of the museum at summer festivals and trade shows, greet visitors, and assist with fossil excavation at various dig sites.
Qualifications: 3rd or 4th year student tourism/hospitality or museum studies. Valid First Aid/CPR, and currently a full time post-secondary student returning as a full-time post-secondary student in the fall.
