Geological Timescale
A geologic timeline is a graphic map of the history of evolution. History is divided into 4 major categories; the formation of theearth, the paleozoic, mesozoic and cenozoic eras. These are referred to as eras. Each era consists of hundreds of millions of years, so they too are broken down into different time periods. Each time period is broken up into a smaller section of time, referred to as an epoch.
| Era | Description | Years |
|---|---|---|
| Cenozoic Era | The Age of Mammals | 64 Million Years Ago |
| Mesozoic Era | The Age of Dinosaurs | 250 Million Years Ago |
| Paleozoic Era | Primitive Life Begins | 590 Million Years Ago |
