The Rock & Fossil Festival was a great success. It was held at the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre February 22 & 23, 2008 from 10-5 pm. A total of 261 individuals participated including school groups, adults and families. Participants brought in wonderful artifacts and specimens for our professionals to review. Everyone enjoyed the day immensely.

 

The following was a list of activities that took place over the festival;

  • Viewing of the gallery space
  • Viewing of the collection room
  • Viewing of a Triceratops from Montana
  • Seeing preparation work done on fossils
  • Molding and Casting demonstration (dinosaur fridge magnets)
  • Identification of specimens and artifacts
  • Mineral and fossil cards
  • Rock tumbling
  • Displays on minerals, rocks and artifacts
  • Demonstration of flint knapping
