Come for an unforgettable adventure with the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre (CFDC). Experience the outdoors of the Manitoba Escarpment while excavating 80 million year old fossils. Bring any fossils or rocks you’ve always wanted identified.

WHAT

Begin with a tour of the CFDC, collections room and laboratory with an exciting talk and identification session for any of your fossils. Enjoy a hearty lunch with staff compliments of CFDC, followed by a scenic drive to the dig site on the the Manitoba Escarpment where participants spend the afternoon searching for and excavating 80 million year old fossils.

Monday to Friday in July and August

Note: No programs will run Aug. 21 - 24

1 Person = $75.00

Group Rate = Additional $50.00 per person

Maximum: 7 Participants

Note: A minimum number of participants are required for a tour. CFDC will coordinate individual and group applicants to meet minimum requirements.

Two weeks advance booking required.

PACKAGE DETAILS
Your adventure begins with a tour of the Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre, followed by an opportunity to learn first hand about fossil preparation using the tools of the trade. Enjoy lunch compliments of the CFDC. The remainder of the time will be spent fossil hunting and excavating. Package includes:

  • Centre tour
  • Fossil Preparation
  • Lunch with CFDC staff
  • Transportation to and from dig site
  • Snacks and beverages at the dig-site
  • 1 Day Excavating

 

ITINERARY - Subject to change and catered to individual groups.
 
  10:00 Meet at Canadian Fossil Discovery Centre
  10:00 – 11:15 am Tour the CFDC, collections room and laboratory
  11:15 - 11:45 am Fossil Preparation
  11:45 am – 12:00 pm Break and hand out information packages
  12:00 – 1:00 pm Lunch with CFDC staff
  1:00 – 1:30 pm Drive out to Dig Site with CFDC van
  1:30 – 1:45 pm Review and Discuss Field Techniques
  1:45 – 5:00 pm Dig at Dig Site with breaks in between (supplied by CFDC)
  5:00 - 5:30 pm Drive back to Morden
